Music is one of the greatest creations of humankind. Through music, one can listen and discover its essence to the world. Also, music has served as a medium to define each culture's history which helped them to pass down through their generations. The purpose of the study is to find out and determine why the Original Pilipino Music or OPM and its nationalistic message are absent in the hearts of the new generation. The researchers also aimed to delineate what Philippine music and OPM is, and their development; their status, and the factors that made its nationalistic sense die in the hearts of the new generation. The research was carried out using a qualitative research approach as the research design of the study. The research sample consisted of four respondents from the music industry for in-depth interview (IDI) and 15 respondents from the junior high school level of Olivarez College Integrated Basic Education Department for the focus group discussion (FGD). The data were collected through series of interviews. The result showed that nationalistic songs might be dead and might not dead in the perspective of the new generation. It also revealed that Filipino music lacks support and exposure from most people, especially with the new generation because of the arrival of different cultures brought by globalization.
