| Summary, etc. | Enhancing Basic Research and Writing Skills (An English 2 Expository Text) is designed for college students who are taking English 2 or its equivalent course which is mandated by the Commission on HIgher Education (CHED) General Education Curriculum Memorandum Order No. 59, Series 1996. This textbook focuses on the enhancement of basic research and academic writing skills. Founded on current SLA (Second Language Acquisition) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes) theories that language skills are acquired when learners will be given opportunities to develop their skills in producing and interpreting functional intention, this textbook will expose learners to different authentic samples of how language is used in various disciplines. Likewise, learners are also provided with easy-to-follow steps on how to write a standard college research paper. It is hoped that with the step-by-step presentation, thesis writing, which is perceived by many college students to be stressful, anxiety - provoking, and cognitively demanding will become manageable and interesting to do. |
