520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The human body is made for motion. Activity is natural. Physical activity pleases and it challenges. To be active is not only healthful, but it must also promote strength of self and spirit. The above universal concept found its way in our fundamental law. Section 19, Article IV of the Phillppine Constitution provldes: The State shall promote physical education and encourage sports programs, league competitions, and amateur sports, Including training for international competitions, to foster self-disclpllne, teamwork, and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry. The fundamental law provides further: All educational Institutions shall undertake regular sports activities throughout the country in cooperation with athletic clubs and sectors. The constitutional commitment acknowledges the fact that there exists a close relationship/correlation between a country's progress and its supremacy in sports. In the words of the then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, he emphasized that: A dynamlc and progressive nation is founded upon a strong and healthy citizenry who can cope with the demands of Iife in a fast changing world.
