Summary, etc. This study aimed to determine the effects of the daily eighty - minute time allotment in Mathematics on the achievement of Grade Five Pupils in Sampaloc Site II Elementary School, Division of Parañaque City during the school year 2002-2003, Specifically, it sought answers to the following sub-problems: 1. How did the pupils in the control and experimental groups compare in the pretest and posttest in terms of the following skills: 3.1 mastery of mathematical concepts; 3.2 computational skills; and, 3.3 ability to analyze and solve word problems? 2. Is there a significant difference between the pretest and posttest mean scores of the pupils in the two treatment groups in terms of mastery of mathematical concepts, computational skills and ability to analyze and solve word problems? 3. What implications can be drawn from the findings of this study? The study used the experimental method of research in evaluating the effects of the increase of time allotment in Mathematics. The purposive sampling technique was used. The population frame of the research were fifty-eight (58) pupils in Grade 5 section I and fifty five (55) pupils in Grade 5 section 2 from Sampaloc Site II Elementary School. These 113 pupils took the pretest and posttest of the Mathematics Achievement Test.
