| Summary, etc. | Men are more likely than women to be diagnosed with some type of cancer during their lifetime. Every year new published books, journals and the world of internet often highlight its numerical increase. The World Health Organization (WHO) accounted 7.6 million deaths (around 13% of all deaths) in 2012 related to Cancer and statistics shows that Prostate CA is the second most common male cancer in the entire world and half a million new cases continue to be diagnosed every year. Dr. Eliza Raymundo also quoted during the MMHDRC in Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Maynila last 2012 that there is an increasing incidence of Prostate CA in both developed and developing countries. In the Philippine setting it is also the second leading cause of mortality among men following lung cancer. Recently, little is known about prostate cancer in our country despite the fact that this population suffers an increasing incidence as what statistics would show. Given all these, the researchers asked what it is behind Prostate CA. Isn't this fact so alarming that it is worth studying for? Several reasons of developing prostate cancer are not fully understood that is why many desired to conduct this study. And if we're going to look at other studies they indicated how aware men are and the many possible risk factors in developing this disease and to note one risk factor is that of being "CELIBATE". But there were no studies yet that would show the specific percentage as to how aware these men are with regards to Prostate CA. This became the very reason why researchers think that this study should be pursued. This research sought to determine the level of knowledge and awareness level on the prevention Prostate cancer among Celibate men of Selected Religious Institutions within Paranaque City. The facts revealed by this study are summarized as follows: The study was participated by mostly 30-40 years of men and majority are Filipinos. Researchers find out also that the main age celibate respondents are moderately knowledgeable and aware on the disease condition; demographic data are considered to be significant in their level of understanding and awareness towards Prostate CA. In terms of their profile, it shows that there is no significant difference between their knowledge and awareness on the abovementioned disease condition. The, researchers concluded that the hypothesis, number one (1) was rejected, that there is a significant relationship between the respondent's knowledge and awareness to Prostate CA in terms of their profile. While the hypothesis number two (2) was accepted, which means there is no significant difference between the respondent's knowledge and awareness on Prostate CA in terms of their profile. After data were studied and interpreted, a need for information dissemination is considered to be important, with which the researchers believed that an informational guide would be helpful. Part of the recommendation, that was considered as a must is to strengthen programs that has been implemented by the DOH such as "June: As the Prostate Awareness Month; that will help educate men on the facts about Prostate CA which can be benefitted not only by the researchers chosen sub-group, the celibate, but by all men from every corner of the world. |
