| Summary, etc. | This study is sought to identify the Relationship of Interpersonal skills through Psychology Test and the Related Learning Experience performance of the BSN students of Olivarez College in their respective clinical area. The study is made throughout the SUMMER of the SY 2013. The actual survey was conducted on the month of May 2013. There were 20 BSN students who answered the survey. Specifically the study answered the following questions: 1. The demographic profile of the respondents shows that 14 of the respondents or 70.00% were female and 6 of the respondents or 30.00% were male and 15 of the respondents or 75% were 20-22 years old. It was followed by ages 17-19 years old with 3 respondents or 15.00% and last were 23-25 years old with 2 respondents or 10.00%. 2. The Interpersonal skills of BSN students show the data presented under male category. It reveals that the highest interpersonal skill that they got is "bias" which got a of 71.8, while the lowest mean in interpersonal skills is "aggressive" which got a mean of 27.5. While Interpersonal skills of Female BSN students reveals that the highest interpersonal skill that they got is "timid" this got a mean of 65.9, while the lowest mean in interpersonal skills is "gregarious" which got a mean of 33.1 3. The Related Learning Experience performance of the BSN IV students revealed that under Knowledge category, the total mean is 3.84 while the highest mean in sub-category is 4.10 and the lowest got a mean of 3.65 which interpreted as satisfactory, while under Soft Skills category, The total mean is 3.97 the highest mean in sub- category is 4.20 and the lowest got a mean of 3.70 and last in three nursing essential category for the Related Learning Experience is Attitude. The total mean is 4.415 the highest mean for the sub- category got 4.65 while the lowest got a mean of 4.15. 4. The Relationship of Interpersonal skills and Related Learning Experience of BSN Students, under male category suggests no correlation. This means that there is no relationship between their interpersonal skills such as trustful, dyscontrolled, timid, etc. and their related learning experience such as knowledge, skills, and attitude. While; Students under female category show the correlation coefficient of 0.2886 suggests low correlation. This means that there is low relationship between their interpersonal skills such as trustful, dyscontrolled, timid, etc. and their related learning experience such as knowledge, skills, and attitude. 5. The difference in Interpersonal skills according to gender as shown in the calculated value of 0.1860 which falls on the acceptance region. Conclusions After an extensive analysis of the data gathered, the following conclusions were drawn from the study 1. The student nurses have the necessary skills in communicating well and taking care of the patients in their clinical area. 2. The results revealed that females got higher level of Interpersonal skills based on the Psychology Test that was administered by the Guidance Testing Center 3. Final grade tells on how well the BSN students perform in the clinical area in promoting therapeutic approach in all sub categories which includes: Knowledge, skills and attitude. 4. There is no relationship between the interpersonal skills and how the students perform in their respective clinical area. 5. The result revealed that there is a difference in interpersonal skill is between the male and female. It was seen on the test that was conducted by the Guidance and testing Center Recommendations The following are the recommendation based from the findings and conclusions. 1. In order to have a strong nurse-patient interaction; students should spend more time their clients in order to relate with their health needs. 2. Male student nurses should be given more orientation in facilitating proper approach towards their clients' interaction. 3. Female students should have an enhancement workshop on providing companionable clients approach when dealing with different types of clients' personality. 4. Clinical Instructors should provide more time for the students to be with their client during their duty hour or when they facilitate their nurse patient interaction and doing their documentation. 5. Future researchers should further asses the study, specifically, the different interpersonal relationship or therapeutic relationship for further enhancement of the clinical competency of the BSN students. |
