Summary, etc. This study was an attempt to determine the predictive validity of the intellective and non-intellective factors on the academic and clinical performance of the nursing students enrolled in Olivarez College, during the school year 2001 - 2002. Specifically it answered the following subproblems: 1. What is the intellective profile of the nursing students in terms of mental ability and aptitude in nursing? 2. What is the scholastic profile of the nursing students in terms of: academic achievement and clinical performance? 3. What are the non-intellective attributes of the nursing students in terms of study habits and attitudes? 4. Are there significant relationships that exist between the following variables: a. mental ability and academic achievement and mental ability and clinical performance; b. aptitude in nursing and academic achievement and aptitude in nursing and clinical performance; c. study habits and academic achievement and study habits and clinical performance. 5. What are the implications of the findings to administrators, guidance counselors, high school students and teachers? 6. What program of reform may be proposed for admission in Olivarez College for the Nursing Department? The study used the descriptive method of research through a disclosure of the general mental ability, aptitude for nursing and study habits and attitudes of the subjects of the study. It anchored on the theory postulated by Kelly that states that the performance of students in schools in different levels of learning may be affected by some factors which may be intellective and non-intellective in nature. This theory is supported by some authorities in the field of guidance. This study is not a replication of any atudy. The 49 subjects were the population of nursing students enrolled in the first semester and the second semester of school year 2001 - 2002 in Olivarez. College. There were two dependent variables namely, academic achievement and clinical performance of the subjects. The independent variables consist of mental ability, aptitude for nursing. and study habits and attitudes. The study habits and attitudes consisted of delay avoidance, work methods, study habits, teacher approval, education acceptance, study attitudes, and study orientation, the basic scales in the Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes, College Level Form C by Brown and Holtzman. The data obtained in the scholastic achievement of the nursing students were gathered from the summary of ratings submitted to the school registrar. On the mental ability, the study habits and attitudes, data were collected from the results of the standardized test administered to the students by the researcher. Those on the nursing aptitude were gathered from the records in the Guidance and Testing Center of the school.
