520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Filipino action films today feature women in roles that depart from the traditional Maria Clara archetype before the century. One of the concerns that confront the researchers is knowing the reason why modern filmmakers feature them as such. Thus, the study investigated the evolution of women in Filipino action films. The key informant interview was used to ask specific experts or professionals who were able to share their knowledge and experiences in the film industry as well as the topic. The participants were invited to focus group discussions to compare the evolution of women from traditional action films to modern action films. The results showed that female leads in Filipino action films have evolved and the viewing public has accepted them in these new roles. They leveled up and their roles have changed. They were able to fight, defend and make their own decision without depending on somebody. It is something new today. It is more of a confirmation and it encourages women to bring out their girl power in themselves. Results suggested that women should stand up for their convictions and they should not be afraid to fight back and defend themselves if the situation calls for it. Also, seeks to understand the difference between the portrayal of women before and today in real life. More work should be done on the empowerment of women.
