Undergraduate thesis.
This study explores the multifaceted factors influencing student-athletes academic performance, categorizing them into three main domains: student-related, economic, and environmental factors. By delving into these dimensions, the researchers seek to unveil the intricate interplay between extracurricular engagement and scholastic achievement. This research primarily seeks to highlight how extracurricular activities can either bolster or undermine academic prowess. It posits that such activities can yield positive outcomes when they contribute to a well-rounded life, fostering self-assurance, a heightened sense of responsibility towards one{92}s educational journey, and a profound sense of belonging within the school community. Conversely, the study contends that extracurricular pursuits may backfire when they overwhelm students{92} schedules, leading them to prioritize their activities over their academic commitments, thereby compromising their overall performance. Moreover, amidst the ongoing debate surrounding the impact of athletic participation on academic success, this paper aims to reconcile opposing viewpoints. While critics argue that athletic engagement detracts from students{92} academic focus, proponents assert that such involvement nurtures students holistically, refining not only their physical prowess but also their cognitive and social skills. In this regard, the study endeavors to elucidate the role of time management as a crucial mediating variable, potentially enhancing the positive correlation between athletic participation and academic achievement. This research adopts a descriptive approach, complemented by quantitative methods, to elucidate students{92} perceptions and experiences. By employing a descriptive research design, which encompasses a range of investigative techniques, the researchers aim to capture a snapshot of the prevailing conditions and dynamics at a specific juncture. Through this, the researchers endeavor to unveil the intricate nuances underpinning the relationship between extracurricular engagement, athletic participation, and academic performance. In summary, this study embarks on a comprehensive exploration of the factors influencing the academic trajectory of student-athletes, shedding light on the intricate interplay between extracurricular pursuits, athletic involvement, and scholastic attainment.
