Undergraduate Thesis

The pandemic brought us irrefutable changes in our daily living and as it continually occurs our capabilities to adapt and flourish are put through its paces. This study aims to find out the stories of pain and hope that will elaborate the essence of the life experiences of COVID-19 nurse survivors. This is phenomenological qualitative research, utilized researchers- made- interview guide questionnaires, used purposeful sampling and conducted an interview. The study found that nurses are experiencing fears on different facets, the cause of infection, the need for integrated support; impact of testing positive to their families and mental wellbeing, continuance of career, preparedness and readiness in this pandemic, effectiveness of coping strategies, stigma and discrimination, suggestions, life lessons, and message of encouragements to aspiring nurses and the public. There is a great need for institutions to give continuous support to nurses and to keep up efficient protocols, and to impose preventative guidelines enhancing protection. Expectantly this research will be used as a tool in understanding lived experiences of COVID-19 nurse survivors and its findings and recommendations can serve as a basis for future research projects, formulate and strengthen policies that could contribute to the betterment of our health care system.
