MAN STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM This research study aimed to determine the incidence of infant mortality in selected barangays in Parañaque City from 2003 to 2005 to serve as basis for a proposed infant health care delivery program. Specifically, it tried to answer the following questions: 1. What is the incidence of infant mortality in the four selected barangays in Parañaque City from 2003 to 2005? 2. What is the profile of infant deaths in terms of the following variables? Te 1-2.1 Age 112.2 Sex 2.3 Average monthly family income 2.4 Educational attainment of parents 2.5 Feeding practices by mothers 2.6 Distance of dwelling to health facilities 3. What are the identified causes of infant deaths in Parañaque City? 4. At what period are infant deaths common in Parañaque City? 4.1 During maternal pregnancy 4.2During childbirth 4.3After birth 5. Is there a significant relationship in infant deaths by each of the variables in sub- problem No. 2? 6. What infant health care delivery program can be proposed in selected barangay Parañaque City to reduce infant mortality? NULL HYPOTHESIS There is no significant relationship between infant deaths by each of the variable in sub-problem No.2. RESEARH METHOD AND SUBJECT OF THE STUDY The study involved 150 recorded infant deaths and an equal number of families in the four selected barangays. The descriptive method of research specifically the documentary analysis type followed by a follow-up interview was done. Records of infant deaths kept by the local civil registry personnel in Parañaque City were look into. Frequency count, percentage, rank, mean, and the Chi Square Test were the statistical procedure used in this investigation.
