Dissertation note: Master Thesis Summary: This study is aimed to determine the relationship between teaching satisfaction and commitment to the teaching performance of public school teachers in the Division of City Schools, Parañaque City during the school year 2001-2002. Specifically, this study attempted to answer the following questions: 1. What is the profile of teacher respondents in terms of: 1.1 gender; 1.2 age; 1.3 teaching experience; 1.4 monthly income; 1.5 grade/year level; and, 1.6 performance rating? 2. How is the teaching satisfaction and commitment of the public school teachers described in the two levels: 2.1 elementary level; and, 2.2 secondary level ? 3. Is there a significant difference in the teaching satisfaction and commitment and teaching performance between the public. elementary and secondary school teachers ? The study made use of the descriptive method of research. It looked into the prevailing teaching commitment and teaching satisfaction that tend to affect teaching performance of elementary and secondary public school teachers in the Division of City Schools, Parañaque City, school year 2001-2002 The respondents of the study were the 300 elementary and the 276 secondary public school teachers from the Division of City Schools Parañaque. The statistical tools utilized were frequency, percentage, weighted arithmetic mean and T- test. The questionnaire was the main instrument used for gathering the data needed in the study. Interviews were also resorted to, in cases when responses were not conclusive or if questions were not fully answered. In the light of the data gathered, the study revealed the following: 1. On the profile of the respondents as to gender, age, teaching experience, monthly income, grade year level and performance rating. There were 112 male and 464 female respondents; 100 respondents were ages 36 -40; 84 respondents, 56-60 years old; 80 respondents, 31-35; 76 respondents, 51-55; 69 respondents, 46-50; 62 respondents, 41-45; 53 respondents, 21-25; and 52 respondents, 26-30 years old. As to teaching experience, 151 with 16-20 years; 127 have 6-10 years; 124 with 21 or more years in the teaching profession. As to monthly income, 171 receiving Php15,001 - 20,000; 148 getting Php10,000 to 15,000; 136 receiving Php 20,000 and above As to grade level, the greater number in the grade school were in Grade I, 63 of them and 62 in Grade II; in the secondary level the greater number were in the second year, 99 of them and 89 teachers in the first year.
