Undergraduate Thesis
This study entitled "An Evaluation of Institutionalized Programs and Home Care Management Of Parents with Cerebral Palsy Patients" aimed to determine whether the parents of cerebral palsied patients continue complying with the services of the institution as well as continue doing home care management for the development of the patient. The researchers would like to know if the services offered by the institution by different aspects are effective and beneficial both to the patient and the parents. With the following statement of the problems: (1) How effective the programs rendered by the institution in accordance to Medical Services, Social Integration Program, Occupational Therapy, Special Education Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Home Program. (2) How does the institution imply the programs to parents of children with cerebral palsy. And (3) How parents adopt the health teachings rendered by the institution towards home care of child with cerebral palsy. The researchers used quantitative research method with descriptive research design. Respondents of the study were the parents of cerebral palsied patients who regularly send their patients in the institution for six (6) months. Researcher composed a self-made questionnaire and had it approved by the adviser and management of the institution in order to legally conduct the study. The data was gathered in four (4) consecutive days at the institution. Data were tallied, analyzed and interpreted to answer the questions presented in the statement of the problem. According to the result, among the listed programs rendered by the institution, there were three programs that got the description of highly agree these are the occupational therapy, special education program and home care program, but based on the table the most effective to the parents as well as to the child is the home program which gained the percentage of 77.5% (highly agreed) and according to scaling, it got the highest mean which is 4.64. Therefore the researchers concluded that home program is the most effective program conducted in the institution. Because the institution gives priority on making their client and client's family as independent as they can. They provide home care teachings so that the parents will be able to help their child on their development. While the least effective is the medical service program which gained 70% and rating scale of 4.5. Based on the data gathered the result showed that all the respondents benefits from all the programs that the institution is offering. All the six programs are equally rendered to the patients. All the programs are said to be effective on the patients as well as the parents. As for our recommendation, we highly encourage future researchers of related topic to focus on the re-evaluation program of the patient to know the level of development in every client as well as to help the institution imply or construct more effective programs suited for the client and parents.
