Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis Summary: The researchers made use of a correlational method, which involved systematic investigation of relationships between two or more variables. The researchers used a correlational research design, wherein scientific methods and quantitative approaches were used to acquire data and answer questions posed at the beginning of the study. This study intends to determine the relationship of socio demographic profile and quality of life as patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of 1.1 Age 12 Gender 1.3 Civi Status 1.4 Educational Attainment 15 Occupation 16 Total household Income 1.7 Alloted income to Medication. What is the quality of life experienced by patient with diabetes mellitus?, Is there any significant Relationship between socio-demographic factors and quality of life in patient with DM type 2 The quality of life is the degree of the well-being folt by an individual or group of people. Unlike standard of living, it is not a tangible thing, and so cannot be measured directly. It consists of two components: physical and psychological. The physical aspect includes such things as health, diet, and protection against pain and disease. The psychological aspect includes stress, worry, pleasure and other positive or negative emotional states. It is virtually impossible to predict the quality of life of a specific individual, since the combination of attributes that leads one individual to be content is rarely the same for another individual. However, one can assume with some confidence that the higher the average level of diet. shelter, safety, as well as freedoms and rights a general population has, the better overall quality of life it experiences. In order to attain even a minimum level quality of life an individual must acquire basic needs in order to survive. Basic needs include diet, shelter and protection from serious disease. An individual's quality of life will increase depending on the degree to which that individual acquires their wants. These wants are unique to each individual and can include physical possessions such as cars, books, snack food and souvenirs The study also specifically sought to make an assessment on the following: the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: age, gender, civil status, employment, total income and allotted income for medication; Quality of life in Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients; and finally the relationship between socio-demographic profile and quality of life in Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients. Age shows when the signs and symptoms of Type II Diabetes Mellitus have manifested. The age prevalence of Type Diabetes Mellitus at Global cares is in the middle adult with ages ranging from 41 to 65 years old. This iliness does not choose what gender to affect, however, gender plays an important role in the management of this disease. Civil Status is also vital in managing Diabetes Mellitus because having someone to support you in your condition and help you in your daily activities leads a person to a healthier well- being. Also, if an individual has a capability to gain knowledge or has an educational attainment, chances are, this person would be more cautious of his condition as compared to the one who doesn't have the capability to gain knowledge and doesn't have any educational attainment. Other important factors are employment occupation, and income, and finally the medical history of the According to the results, most of the Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus patients at global care clinic had moderate or neither poor nor good quality of life. The quality of life variable scored a composite average weighted mean of 3.029808, which conveys that the patients has moderate or neither poor nor good quality of life The results showed that the quality of life of the respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status, occupation, income, and allotted budget for medication has no significant relationship. But in terms of educational attainment it has a significant relationship. This implies that education has an important role in every individual's life. In relation to this study, most of the respondents reached the college level and only few do not, which shows that majority of the respondents had a good educational attainment that resulted a moderate quality of life. Furthermore, Education is an act of being educated which knowledge skills, gain from study become enchanced that leads to better learning and understanding (Merriam Webster). So, If an individual truly understand his/her present disease, there is a great possibility that he/she will comply to treatment that will result to improvement towards his/her condition and leads to a better quality of life. Hence it is in fact possible, that a person can both have good demographic profile and better quality of life towards his or her hearth at the same time. For instance, a male client with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus whose quality of life is good, might have a better improvement of his illness by taking medications and adjusting his lifestyle. Also it might influence the management of his illness whenever he consults with his doctor, who contributes a huge factor in improving his condition by prescribing the correct medication and advising lifestyle modifications.
