U1 - T 647.94 2018 0091 PY - 2018/// CY - Parañaque City PB - Olivarez College N1 - Undergraduate Thesis N2 - This study aimed to correlate the relationship of internship performance of students in the hotel operations and job competencies. In particular, the study wants to identify the needed skills, soft skills competency level, hard skills competency level, and the job competencies needed in the hospitality industry to close the gap if any, between what is taught to students and what the industry expects from the graduates being hired especially the time of new generation of students. The participants of the study were composed of 62 Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management graduates of Olivarez College of Parañaque. The research study utilized the Heuristic Framework of individual work performance as a theoretical framework and as a basis for the conceptual framework of the study. Since there were specific numbers of respondents needed in the study, purposive sampling was utilized. Data were gathered through the use of questionnaires and were statistically treated using frequency count, percentage, and mean were used. For inferential statistics, the Pearson product-moment correlation was utilized. The study reveals that when statistical treatment was treated, the correlation coefficient of the respondent's soft skill is 0.820 which suggests that there is a strong positive correlation. While, the correlation coefficient of the respondent's hard skill is 0.736, indicating that there is a moderate positive correlation. The correlation is significant at the 0.01 level (2-tailed) for both soft and hard skills. The result of the study serves as a basis to develop skills assessment metrics for on-the-job training of the students in the hospitality industry in assessing skills and competencies. ER -
