Individuals with dementia often exhibit agitation and challenging behavioral symptoms that can significantly impact their quality of life and that of their caregivers. Music therapy has emerged as a promising intervention to address these symptoms and enhance emotional well-being in individuals with dementia. This quantitative case-control study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy in reducing agitation and behavioral symptoms among individuals with dementia. The study was involved two groups: one receiving standard care and the other receiving music therapy in addition to standard care. Quantitative measures, including standardized assessments of agitation levels, aggression, and overall behavioral symptoms, was utilized to compare the outcomes between the two groups over a specified time frame. Through strict adherence to research protocols and systematic data collection, this study seeks to provide empirical evidence of the impact of music therapy on the behavioral and emotional well-being of individuals with dementia. Statistical analyses, including inferential tests and effect size calculations, were employed to determine the significance of the differences in outcomes between the two groups. Moreover, this research aims to explore potential moderating variables that may influence the effectiveness of music therapy, such as the frequency and duration of music therapy sessions, the type of music interventions used and individual characteristics of participants. By identifying these factors, the study seeks to inform tailored and evidence-based approaches to optimize the benefits of music therapy for individuals with dementia. The quantitative findings of this case-control study were expected to contribute valuable insights to the existing literature on music therapy in dementia care.
