The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of malnutrition and the possible contributing factors among 3 to 5-year-old preschoolers in San Isidro, Paranaque City. The respondents were selected from various daycare centers in Barangay San Isidro, Paranaque City, based on their inappropriate health status for their age or identification as malnourished. A survey questionnaire was used to assess the respondents. The researchers provided an orientation to the parents about the research, including its purpose, process, benefits, and rights, and instructed them on how to answer the questionnaire. This study used a quantitative design to determine the possible contributing factors to malnutrition among preschoolers. The researchers provided sample nutritional meals, referred to as feeding and distributed flyers containing information about maintaining healthy nutritional needs. The study identified the top three possible causes of malnutrition, including limited participation in activities, insufficient nutritional knowledge, and inadequate intake of vitamins and milk. These primary causes may influence the prevalence of malnutrition among preschoolers. To prevent malnutrition, several measures can be implemented, such as nutritional education programs, ensuring access to nutritious food, conducting regular health check-ups, providing vitamin and mineral supplements, initiating community-based initiatives, establishing school meal programs, promoting physical activity, and offering socioeconomic support, Despite the prevalence of malnutrition among preschoolers in Paranaque City. This study indicates that factors such as socioeconomic status and access to nutritious food significantly contribute to the issue. Therefore, comprehensive strategies are needed to combat malnutrition, including targeted interventions addressing underlying factors such as lack of vitamin intake, limited nutrition knowledge, low participation in activities, and economic constraints. Implementing preventive measures like nutritional education programs, improving access to nutritional education programs, improving access to nutritious food, and promoting community-based initiatives is essential.
