Disney movies have been a big part of young womens lives growing up, as well as the princesses they portray. Disney movies, to some extent, have shaped the childrens conceptualization of beauty (Azmi et.al, 2018). This study aims to learn if exposure to Disney Princesses affects young girls conceptualization of beauty, what its effect is, and if there is a significant difference between Disneys beauty standards and Generation Alphas ideal body image. The researchers hypothesized that exposure to Disney Princess films would result in participants heightened adherence top the Disney Princess beauty standards. The researchers used a quasi-experimental design, specifically a pre-test and post-test design. Using convenience sampling, 30 female grade school students in grades 1-6 were chosen as respondents. Results showed that there was a significant difference between the scores of the pre-test and post-test of both the negative and positive sets of questions, signifying that exposure had both a positive, and negative effect on their answers. However, the rest of the results show that they could already have an underlying basis of what they deem beautiful that leans in a Eurocentric way. For this reason, an in-depth study of the content of the Disney Princess films for children and their effects would be a significant step forward in understanding the influences of appearance-related media on young children's concept of beauty.
