In the technology-driven world, closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) have grown in popularity as a surveillance strategy towards crime prevention throughout the high-tech generation. However, its effectiveness has always been a question in a community where crime rates are increasing. This research is a descriptive quantitative type of research that assessed the level of effectiveness of CCTV cameras at Barangay Manuyo Dos in Las Piñas City and their functionality in crime reduction with respect to the location of CCTV cameras, the number of CCTV cameras, and maintenance. The study utilized a research-made questionnaire composed of two groups of respondents, namely, barangay officials and residents, for a total of 144 respondents. There is no significant difference in the assessment of the two group of respondents. The analysis of the data involved percentages in evaluating the profile variables, weighted means to calculate the average answer from the collected data, and a t-test for determining the significant difference between the groups of variables. Based on the data gathered, it was revealed that the installation of CCTV cameras is highly effective to effective in reducing crime, specifically in school zones. Regardless of the existing problems, it was proposed that the CCTV must always be on for monitoring, invest in its quantity, upgrade to maintain the service provided, and the response personnel should always be visible in the area.
