TI - Creative history and voice of "Lauya": a proposal for promotion of cultural gastronomy experience in Parañaque City U1 - T 647.94 2025 0124 PY - 2025/// CY - Parañaque CIty PB - Olivarez College KW - Lauya KW - Cultural Gastronomy KW - Creative history KW - Cultural Transmission N1 - Undergraduate thesis N2 - This qualitative study explores the {93}Creative History and Voice of Lauya{94} a savory meat stew from Paranaque City, positioning it as a significant element for promoting cultural gastronomy and local identity. Drawing upon the concept of Creative History and Cultural Transmission Theory, the research investigates how lauyas{92} narrative, preparation, and consumption practices reflect historical evolution, community values, and intergenerational knowledge transfer. Through an in-depth oral history interview with nine co-researchers from Barangays La Huerta, San Dionisio, and Don Galo, supplemented by ethnographic observation, the study uncovers the dish{92}s deep cultural roots, its role in family and communal gathering, and its adaptation over time. The findings reveal that lauya serves as a powerful symbol of hospitality, unity and Paranaqueno identity, often prepared for fiestas, family reunions, and weekend meals. Despite minor modern adaptations in preparation methods and ingredients due to factors like cost and convenience, the core essence and communal spirit of lauya remain largely intact, demonstrating its resilience as a living cultural practice. This research advocate for formal recognition of lauya as a key culinary heritage through a city ordinance, integration into educational curricula, and promotion by restaurants and food advocates to enhance Paranaque{92}s gastronomic tourism.Ultimately, this study lays the groundwork for future food mapping initiatives to geographically and historically validate Lauya{92}s territorial identity, ensuring its enduring presence in Paranaque cultural landscape ER -
