  <abstract>The study sought to examine the painstaking struggles experienced by junior high school students in public schools. With the kind of setup of distance learning education in the new normal, there are many struggles that students encountered. As a result, the purpose of this research is to identify learners in distance learning education in this time of the pandemic. A qualitative study was carried out at two public integrated junior and senior high schools in Tagaytay City. The schools were purposefully sampled. Focus group discussions were conducted with seven students of junior high school from the studied schools to obtain data. According to the findings of the study three themes have emerged from participants interpretation, (1) Interference to Learning Amid the Pandemic (1.1) Environmental Noise, (1.2) Technological Noise, (1.3) Internet Connectivity (1.4) Multi-tasking,(1.5) Absence of Home Facilitator,(2) Online Gaming as Coping Mechanism to Pandemic stress, and (3) Realization to Bounce Forward, (3.1)Independent Learning (3.2)Open Communication,(3.3)Self-care and(3.4) Enter Priority Setting. The researcher come up with a policy driven-initiative that will help to address the problems encountered by the learners in distance learning education.</abstract>
