<subfield code="a">The study aims to identify the levels of competency in taking accurate vital signs among The nursing students in Olivarez College Paranaque by coming up with an evidence based assessment of their knowledge, skills and attitude in doing such procedures. This study was made in school year 2013-2014 which first began in August 2013. The actual survey was done during the month of January until the first week of February after the modification and validation of tool was granted. Specifically, the study answered the following problems: 1.) What is the level of competency in taking vital signs as perceived by student nurses themselves in terms of: 1.1 Knowledge 1.2 Skills 1.3 Attitude 2.) What is the level of competency of the nursing students in taking vital signs as perceived by clinical instructors in terms of 2.1 Knowledge 2.2 Skills 2.3 Attitude 3.) Is there any significant difference between the level of competence in taking vital signs as perceived by the student nurses themselves and the clinical instructors? 4.) What are the proposed enhancement skills suggested by the researchers? In this research study, the respondents consist of thirty students and four Clinical Instructors from Olivarez College. An evaluation tool was given to the respondents in order to see their level of competency in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude in taking different procedures of vital signs assessment (Temperature, Pulse Rate, Respiratory Rate and Blood Pressure). A descriptive correlational method was employed by the researchers. The researchers correlate and compare the data that have been collected among the students and clinical instructors that will show the difference between the two variables. A letter of permission was given to the clinical instructors handling the students in their respective clinical area where in the researchers conducted the study. The respondents were given time to answer the evaluation tool at their most convenient time, and retrieval is done within the day of distribution. The results are presented in table forms which are statistically treated using weighted mean and t-test to interpret and analyze the gathered data.</subfield>
