Master Thesis This study tried to evaluate the effect of the mobile health education and sanitation program of the Bureau of Quarantine and International Health Surveillance among passengers of inter-island vessels. Specifically, this study tried to answer the following questions: 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of: 1.1 1.2 1.3 Educational Attainment and, 1.4 Ethnic origin 2. What is the level of health and sanitation knowledge, and attitude, of the respondents before and after the implementation of the Mobile Health and Sanitation Program of the Bureau of Quarantine. Age Sex 3. Is there a significant change on the level of knowledge, and attitude of the respondents on the health and sanitation program before and after the implementation of the program? 4. How did the respondents evaluate/rate the Mobile Health and Sanitation Program materials and strategies? 5. What implications can be drawn to improve the Mobile Health and Sanitation Program of the Bureau of Quarantine? This study used the descriptive method of research using the survey and the follow-up method to describe the level of knowledge and attitudes of 3rd class passengers of inter-island vessels on health and sanitation practices and concepts. The pre-test and post test were the main tools in the gathering of data using 137 3rd class passengers of inter-island vessels. The treatment employed in the study were: frequency, percentage, and mean. The T-test was used to determine the significance of the difference in the pre and post test. Results of the study showed the following: There were 86 3rd class passengers under age group of 13-34, majority were males, with college education and coming from Mindanao. In terms of level of awareness and attitudes on health and sanitation before the implementation of the Mobile Health and Sanitation: Majority (86 or 63%) of the 3rd class passengers were from 13 to 34 years old, followed by the 35-56 yrs. old. Sulpicio Lines Inc. carried the most passengers 13-34 yrs. old. There were more males (55%) 3rd class passengers than the females (45%). There were more college level passengers (49%) followed by (38%) high school level passengers, from Mindanao. As to the Level of Knowledge/ Awareness and Attitudes of the Respondents on Health and Sanitation before the Program Implementation: On the average the respondents posted an overall weighted mean of 3.53 which is "high" level, descriptively. By age group, the 57-77 yrs old respondents posted the highest mean and the 35-36 years old the lowest. By age group, the 13-34 yrs. old and 57-77 yrs old were found to have "good" attitude and "fair" for the 34-56 years old. Program of the Bureau of Quarantine, the respondents were described as "high level" the young, the matured respondents were of "good" attitude and the middle age with "fair" attitude.
