  <abstract>STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM    This study attempted to compare the reading comprehension skills between the preschoolers of Olivarez College Preschool Outreach Program and    Moonwalk Ph. 1 Day Care Center school year 2006-2007.    Specifically, it sought to answer to the following questions:    1. What is the level of reading comprehension skills of the preschoolers at Olivarez College Preschool Outreach Program and Moonwalk Ph.1 Day Care Center?    2. What are the strategies employed by the teachers in developing student's reading comprehension skills in both schools?    3. What problems do teachers encounter in teaching reading comprehension?    4. Is there a significant difference between the reading comprehension of the preschoolers of Olivarez College Preschool Outreach Program and Moonwalk Ph.1 Day Care Center?    SCOPE AND DELIMITATION  This study involved all of the 45 pupils and 5 teachers of Moonwalk Ph.1 Day Care Center and 32 preschoolers and 10 student teachers of Outreach Preschool in Olivarez College.    METHODOLOGY  The descriptive survey method was utilized in this study, with the questionnaire as the primary instrument in data gathering. Data were substantiated by the information gathered from the unstructured interviews with the respondents.  </abstract>
