<subfield code="a">The type of research used in this study was the descriptive method. The descriptive method of research was used to determine the knowledge and practices of the mothers in managing of diarrhea. The reason for doing this study is only to assess their knowledge and practices to analyze the proper and improper ways its treatment. The further actions after the assessment were done by the local health center of the barangay after the study was conducted. Here are the summary of the results with the highest and lowest figures gathered from the implementation. The study shows that the respondents have the knowledge that diarrhea is primarily caused by ingestion of dirty or contaminated foods. Results revealed that the respondents have little knowledge regarding the signs and symptoms of dehydration which are sunken fontanelles, tearless or sunken eyes, dryness of the lips, weak pulse, sudden loss of weight, prolonged periods of no urination, and loss of the elasticity of the skin. The practices of the mothers regarding management of diarrhea reveal that the respondents were able to choose and buy food products that are safe and not contaminated. However, they were not able to ensure proper storage of leftover foods on the table or on the refrigerator. Also, respondents were not able to produce home-made Oresol especially when commercialized Oresol products were unavailable In connection with the results that were revealed the researchers gave a few recommendations to enhance the knowledge and practices of the mothers in the community of San Dionisio. The most important among all the recommendations was that a new program should be implemented by the health Center of San Dionisio regarding the preparation of home-made ORESOL since the study showed that it is one of the main problems of this community with regardsto the practices in the management of diarrhea. The other recommendations are listed at the latter part of this paper.</subfield>
