Dissertation note: Master Thesis Summary: This study attempted to assess the career choices of selected senior high school students in Pasay City South High School and Pasay City West High School, school year 2001 - 2002. Specifically, it answered the following questions: 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the following demographic profile: 1.1 gender; 1.2 socio-economic status; and, 1.3 parent occupation? 2. What are the career choices of the respondents as to: 2.1 degree courses; and, 2.2 non-degree courses? 3. What are the respondents' reasons in the choice of a career? 4. Are there significant relationships in the three major career choices (Education, Military, Computer Science) of the respondents in relation to the demographic profile of gender, socio-economic status and parent occupation? 5. What program can be proposed to improve the career choices of high school students in the Division of Pasay? The respondents, 452 in number, were chosen through purposive sampling. These were the senior high school students graduating during the school year 2001 - 2002. The descriptive method of research was used where the gathering device is the questionnaire-checklist. Interviews and observations supported the data. The data were statistically treated using frequency, percentage, ranking and the chi-square test. Frequency was used to determine the number of respondents in the different variables. Percentage was used in the distribution of respondents according to the profile items. Ranking was used to identify or determine the position obtained in the inventory, and chi-square was used to know the extent of relationships between the major career choices of the respondents to the selected demographic profile of gender, socio-economic status and parent occupation. The null hypothesis formulated was that, there is no significant relationship in the three major career choices (Education, Military, Computer Science) of the respondents as to gender, socio-economic status and parent
