520 _aReading is undeniably one of the vital skills in language and is a basic tool in education. Reading as defined as a receptive skill is the capacity to interpret meaningfully and decode whether written and graphic symbols of language. It is through reading wherein the deeper and complex treasures of knowledge get to be unfolded. It is an essential and a requisite resource to every child who is interested to delve the world and to be well-versed. Readiness on the other hand serves as a main factor in any stage of learning. If one is to learn, s/he must be ready in all aspects for learning to be established. When combined, reading readiness draws various connotations. In a child's early development, reading readiness is evident in this stage. Parents, guardians and teachers play a vital role for this development to be improved effectively. It is also commonly referred to in reading context as concerned with factors supposed to be prerequisites and of having impacts to achieving success in beginning reading. As the modern concept of readiness, it entails that it is based on the combination of various factors such as physical- environmental, social and psychological-behavioral factors. This study is of great importance as it aspires to look for ways of helping pupils to get them reading ready. This paper is focused on recognizing how ready the kindergarten pupils in reading and identifying factors that contribute to their reading skills and how these factors affect their reading readiness and ways to aid and develop it. This study also highlights the importance of active home-school relationship or good rapport between the teacher and parents' collaboration and how it affected and has drawn positive influence to their child's ability to learn and get ready to read. This paper ultimately intends to develop and improve pupils' reading readiness and so have come up with an effective solution through implementation of Re-Connect Program as a Home-School Reading Assistance Program. Home and School collaboration is generally emphasized on this study as one main factor to ensure success in developing and nurturing pupil's readiness in reading that is, such program could only be successful if participated by and worked out hand on hand by parents and teachers.
