520 _aThis study sought to develop a textbook in Natural Science 1 for College: Modular Approach. Specifically, it sought to assess the needs of the administrators, faculty and students of Olivarez College in relation with the proposed textbook, the contained competencies in Natural Science 1, the instructional model that was developed and served as springboard and framework of this instructional material, the validity of proposed textbook with regard to (1) clarity of objectives; (2) sufficiency and adequacy of contents; (3) structure and layout; (4) suitability of approach; and (5) its overall usefulness to the faculty and students. Likewise, the said research led to the development of proposed textbook in Natural Science 1 for college with modular approach, Statement of the Problem This study sought to propose a textbook in Natural Science 1 for college with Modular Approach. Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions? 1.What was the identified need for textbook in Natural Science 1 as perceived by the administrator, faculty, and students? 2. What are the competencies contained in Natural Science 1? 3.What appropriate Instructional Material (IM) Model maybe designed to serve as framework of the textbook? 4.How valid is the proposed textbook with regard to : 4.1 Clarity of Objectives; 4.2 Sufficiency and Adequacy of Contents; 4.3 Structure and Layout; 4.4 Suitability of Approach; and 4.5 Over-all usefulness? 5.Based on the findings of the study, what textbook in Natural Science 1 can be developed? Methodology This study utilized development research supplemented by documentary analysis along process of developing a textbook in Natural Science 1. Since need analysis and validation were essential components of the process, therefore this study used need assessment and validation tools as instruments in gathering the data. And in so doing, frequency. percentage and weighted mean are the statistical treatments taken. Hence, respondents to the need assessment survey included 5 administrators, 10 faculty, and 30 students for a total of 45 while validators include 2 book writers, 3 module writers, 10 faculty, and 30 students for a total of 45.
