Master Thesis
This study was an attempt to identify the problems and needs of the freshmen college students of Olivarez College in Sucat, Paranaque City and to implement the findings to school and guidance management. More specifically, the study answered the following subproblems: 1. What is the profile of the freshmen college students in Olivarez College, City of Paranaque, school year 2000- 2001 in terms of the following: 1.1 sex, 1.2 age, 1.3 course enrolled in, 1.4 mental ability, 1.5 No. of siblings in the family, and, 1.6 parents occupation 2. What are the problems and needs of the freshmen college students as measured by the Needs Inventory? 3. Is there a significant relationship between their problems and needs in each of the six aforementioned profile items? 4. What are the implications of their problems and needs to the guidance program. The respondents, 191 in number, were chosen through purposive sampling. These were the freshmen college students enrolled during the first semester of school year 2000-2001. The descriptive method of research was used. The main instruments used togather the data was the Manila Counseling Inventory, a standardized questionnaire. The Cultural Fair Scale 2, Form A was also used. Interviews and interpretations supported the data.
