Master Thesis

The study tried to compare the academic achievement of Grade VI pupils in Taguig 1, Taguig Pateros Division in the Division Achievement Test for the last 3 years in English, Reading, Science and Mathematics to draw implications to educational management. Specifically, it tried to answer the following questions: How did the grade six pupils of Taguig 1 performed in the Division Achievement Test during the last 3 school year 2000-2003 in English, Reading, Science and Mathematics by: 1.1 school 1.2 gender 1.3 teachers' years of teaching experience 1.4 family monthly income 2. 3. What was the trend/patterned of the pupils' academic achievement in the 4 subject areas in Division Achievement Test by each of the forecited variable in sub-problem number 1? Was there a significant difference in the pupils mean/ratings in the subject areas during the SY 2000-2001 to 2002-2003 in terms of the 4 aforecited variables? 4. What implications could be drawn from the findings to improve educational management in Taguig District 1? iv RESEARCH METHOD The descriptive method of research was used in this study. Specifically, it was used in the survey and documentary analysis to come up with an objective description of the grade VI pupils in Taguig 1 in terns of the specified and demographic variables like gender, teacher's teaching experience, family income and their ratings scores in the four subject areas during the last 3 years SUBJECTS OF THE STUDY This study involved 297 or 10% of the population of grade VI pupils enrolled in Taguig Elementary School, Ususan Elementary School and Eusebio C. Santos Elementary School during the school years 2000- 2001 to 2002-2003 which were categorized into top performing, moderately performing and low performing schools.
