Master Thesis
For men to create and transmit his social heritage from generation to generation,be it orally or in written form, language efficiency is an imperative. Likewise, as a medium of communication and a tool to learning, reading serves asan indispensable function of society. Educated understanding and the most valued formsof competence are unattainable by one who cannot read well. It is a vital skill in today'scomplex society, especially in this age of speed and power where the aspiration andproblems of people are advancing rapidly. People the world over are expressingrevolutionary drives to improve themselves to live a better existence. As a result of theirrising expectancy in better meeting the demands of modern living, the need for and use ofreading has increased notably. In the school system, the ability to read has always been regarded the key toeffective learning. Access to various areas of knowledge is made possible throughreading. Therefore, a child who is greatly handicapped in reading is deprived of awonderful medium or tool of learning with which much of his formal education can beattained.
