Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis Summary: This descriptive study aimed to provide information regarding the knowledge and practices of staff nurses on nosocomial infections in the hospitals. Specifically, this study aimed to answer three questions, namely: What is the level of knowledge and awareness of staff nurses on nosocomial infection? What are the practices of staff nurses on nosocomial infection prevention? And is there a relationship between the knowledge and practices of staff nurses on nosocomial infection? Imogene King's "General Systems Framework" served as the theoretical framework utilized in this study. The respondents were randomly selected and questionnaires were provided as to gain information. The findings from this study assisted in the identification of Staff nurses knowledge and practices regarding nosocomial infections. In analyzing the results of the questionnaire provided to the respondents, the researchers were able to determine themes that emerged, namely: (1) Staff nurses are knowledgeable and aware on what nosocomial infection is and how it is acquired; (2) They practice techniques that could prevent nosocomial infection through the guidelines of theoretical based interventions; and (3) That there is a relationship between knowledge and practices of staff nurses in different selected hospitals from Las Piñas, Parañaque and Muntinlupa.
